When the clinic closed, we knew we had to take action.

…and the Central Maryland Speech Therapy Program began!

Since the program’s inception in early 2024, the CMSTP has:

  • Served 45 clients

  • In 3 counties (Howard County, Baltimore City, and Baltimore County

  • Advocated and supported 4 graduate SLP students

  • Provided a $45,000 value to the Down syndrome community and low or zero cost to participants

When the Loyola University speech and communication clinic in Columbia, Maryland announced it was closing, we knew we had to step up for our community. Not only did many with Down syndrome lose their affordable access to speech and communication therapy, but also graduates of the Loyola Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) program would no longer have as much access to working with people who have Down syndrome. So DSAmd took action!

The only reason the CMSTP exists is because of vital donations and sponsors.
